- World trade organization (WTO) until recently carrying the title « the General
agreement on the tariffs and trade » (GATT).
- The general agreement on the tariffs and trade (GATT) was concluded in 1947 in Geneva
between governments 23 countries and defined some basic rules of management of trade and
trade policy with allowance for of mutual interests of countries - members. In 1994 of a
GATT is renamed into the World trade organization (WTO) and
Consolidates today in the structure more than 150 states.
- The Soviet Union has received in 1990 the status of the observer of a WTO, Russian
Federation on the rights assignee USSR still conducts intensive negotiations on the
introduction in a WTO as the full-fledged member. However to become the full-fledged
member of this organization, any state should declare readiness to respect a number(line)
of obligatory requests, including about the rushing to promote:
- The further liberalization of foreign trade;
- To decrease(reduction) of the customs tariffs;
- To removal of quantitative restrictions on import;
- To removal(elimination) of foreign trade discrimination concerning the states - partners
till a WTO.
